There's No Worse Luck Than Getting Stuck Sitting Behind Joel Embiid At A Baseball Game

It's late August. You can start to feel the anticipation in the air as postseason baseball is right around the corner. Eagles preseason just wrapped up, the NBA and NHL are just over a month away, and the Phillies have a chance to get themselves going in the right direction with the Houston Astros coming into town. You can't wait to get to the ballpark to watch the Fightins in person. And on top of that, you ended up treating yourself to some Diamond Club seats right behind home plate. You are jazzed, to say the least.

Then you show up to your seats and who else is sitting in front of you than gold medalist and NBA MVP, Joel Embiid.

Now sure, at first you think to yourself this is the cherry on top of your incredible night at the ballpark. I mean Joel is one of the most beloved man in the city. You can't wait to tell your friends and family that you were sitting mere inches away from him. But as the game goes on, you realize how brutally unlucky you actually are. Because from the first pitch to the final out, you couldn't see shit. Not a damn thing as 7' tall menacing monster blocked any view you would have of the game. You just spent a few hundred dollars on tickets to watch the back of Joel Embiid's head for 3 hours. Luckily those Diamond Club tickets usually come with $30 charged on them to use for food and booze, because you're going to need a couple of tall boys to get through that night of constantly fighting to find an angle to see any of the game.

Listen. I love Joel. I think he's one of the most important figures in Philly sports history. It's just that I'd hope he would have a little more spacial awareness. Just have the common sense to realize you're a massive mountain of a man, and that you should probably grab one of the back rows of a section if you're going to catch a game in person. That way nobody is sitting behind you and you're not going to block their view all night. I'm not saying he needs to sit in the bleeders or anything. But row 19 of Diamond Club still puts you close to the action without blocking everyone behind you. There need to be height restrictions for certain rows, is all.

Anyway--the good news for this fella sitting behind Embiid is that he actually got a chance to see some action as long as he was watching Joel's phone all night. Hopefully his storage plan is unlimited because the amount of footage he loaded up on his camera roll last night was seemingly an entire game's worth.

P.S. -- Wonder if the MLB has the balls to go after Embiid for rebroadcasting footage of that game without their express written consent.

MVP things. Gotta love it.
